Paris Match launches the “Paris Match Photography Grand Prize: A Look at Our Times,” a national annual photography competition open to the general public.

A pioneer of photojournalism, Paris Match has always championed the belief that photography is more than aesthetics—it is a language. For Paris Match, an era is told through the perspectives that define it and through the images that shape our understanding of the world.

To mark the Bicentenary of Photography, Paris Match is launching the Paris Match Photography Grand Prize, an annual national competition open to everyone. For its inaugural edition, the chosen theme, “A Look at Our Times,” perfectly reflects the magazine’s editorial DNA.

With this initiative, Paris Match reaffirms its historic commitment to celebrating photography and helping shape its future.

AN AMBITION: DISCOVERING THE PHOTOGRAPHIC TALENTS OF TOMORROW

The Paris Match Photography Grand Prize aims to become the leading annual event dedicated to photojournalism.

Through this competition, Paris Match seeks to:

• Share its expertise in photographic storytelling and craftsmanship.
• Highlight the narrative power of photography.
• Open the door to a new generation of creators.
• Contribute to building the visual memory of contemporary France.

Faithful to its editorial identity, Paris Match places people at the heart of this initiative. Beyond technical skill or aesthetic achievement, the jury will recognize photographers whose images reflect the contemporary world with authenticity, humanity, and integrity—visual narratives that capture meaningful moments and tell compelling stories.

THE “PARIS MATCH PHOTO GRAND PRIZE” CATEGORY

The “Paris Match Photo Grand Prize” will honor photographers and images published in the magazine throughout the year.

Candidates will be selected by the magazine’s Photo Department experts: Jérôme Huffer, Head of the Photo Department; Tania Lucio, Deputy Head of the Photo Department; and Stéphane Albouy, Editorial Director, before a final vote by the public.

Through this signature category, Paris Match aims to celebrate the excellence of its photographic storytelling while creating a dialogue between professional photography and emerging perspectives from the general public.

CATEGORIES OPEN TO ALL, SUPPORTED BY COMMITTED PARTNERS

Paris Match also offers several categories open to the public, each reflecting different perspectives on contemporary France and the values that define our time.

Each category is supported by a partner committed to helping bring meaningful, emotional, and story-driven images to light:

• A Look at Creativity, supported by Google France.
• A Look at Boldness, supported by Bpifrance.
• A Look at Family, supported by VistaPrint.
• A Look at Legacy, supported by CCF | KOREGE.

Paris Match invites participants to capture the essence of France today, in all its diversity, contradictions, strengths, and vulnerabilities: human connections, social transformations, local communities, commitments, challenges, collective momentum, everyday scenes, and historic moments.

In other words, everything that tells the story of contemporary France.

A SELECTION PROCESS COMBINING PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERTISE AND PUBLIC VOTING

To ensure a rigorous selection process while encouraging broad participation, Paris Match combines its editorial expertise with the insight of renowned photography personalities and a final public vote.

Jérôme Huffer, Tania Lucio, Stéphane Albouy, and the project partners will be joined by Nikos Aliagas and Yann Arthus-Bertrand in selecting the finalists for each category. Drawing on their experience with imagery and artistic sensitivity, they will help identify photographs capable of telling the story of our times with power, emotion, and authenticity.

Following this initial selection, finalists will be presented to the public, who will vote to determine the winners of the Paris Match Photography Grand Prize on parismatch.com.

Each winner will receive prizes provided by Canon and VistaPrint, an exhibition of their work during Paris Match’s immersive event, and visibility across the magazine’s various media platforms.
